We will discuss programs we are currently having, ask opinions on things you'd like to see happen, and unveil our big plan for the spring. Come out if you're interested or would like to help out with our mystery event. We really want to make it happen! See your smiling, fresh faces on Wednesday!

Photo Contest
Hi everybody! Along with the tutoring and once-a-week conversation programs we've set up, we're still brainstorming ideas that you can have fun with. The latest one is a Photo Contest where you can recreate your favorite work of Italian art in photo form. I know many of you are thinking of Michelangelo's David right now, but please, be tasteful. Below you will see the flyer for the event which depicts Da Vinci's The Last Supper and below it is photographer Annie Leibovitz's promo shot of the Sopranos in the same style.
We can't all be professional photographers but as you can see this could be really fun and interesting if we get plenty of submissions. Be tongue-and-cheek, be serious, be abstract! Whatever happens, La Società Italiana will be submitting a photo and goodness knows we want to win the prize we have lined up -- don't let us win so easily!
As for the format of the submissions, we want your photo paired with the work you're trying to replicate (so there's no confusion) and all submissions should be sent to rcc6a@virginia.edu by APRIL 11th. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

First Event!
The Italian Club is having it's first event! We'll be cooking spaghetti (of course) and a few other things for you all to enjoy so please please come. It will be a great way to meet each other, hear ideas, and have fun.
As far as logistics, the Facebook Event (click here to go to it) will tell you more (i.e. where it is). It's February 3rd at 7:00 pm and it's 5$ to get in to cover the cost of all the delicious food we're buying. See you guys there!
